Living on Cape Cod, we’re never far from a beach, nor from some of the amazing wildlife which calls the beaches home. It seemed only fitting then to capture the Piping Plover on the Beach.

This piece, measuring roughly 10″ x 14″, brings two Piping Plovers together, foraging for some insects in the sand. The piece is shown mounted on a custom Maple stand, suitable for display, such as on a fireplace mantle, a window sill, or free standing such as on a sofa table.

Shown below is the same piece, displayed on the window sill of a transom window.

The piece can also be easily adapted to hang, such as “The Wave” – either way, it’s a great reminder of the beach and the teeming wildlife that is part of Cape Cod.

For this design, I preferred to displayed in a stand, envisioning them to be shown free-standing vs. hanging.

And so what do we call a group of Plovers? a peck of Piping Plovers? a plethoria of plovers?
