I expect that we all have stories to tell about where we were when we first heard of the pandemic and “the grand shutdown”. And I’m certain we all have stories to tell about how we coped with the subsequent isolation and uncertainty.
For me, that was a time when I rediscovered working with Stained Glass. I hadn’t done any work in years, yet had some of the materials still lying around from my earlier work, and glass was still available to be shipped online. So it began.
Fast forward, I had visions of a beach at sunset – a place where we could still get out and enjoy natures beauty. That vision led to the piece you see here. I didn’t have a formal plan/design for the piece, though I definitely had a vision – the image of sunset on the water, with sand and green trailing off to the horizon. I built the piece around the horizon line trailing off into the distance.
The piece is roughly 2′ x 4′ and uses lead caming as the technique joining the glass pieces.

And yes, EXTREMELY thankful that the pandemic is over, though with lasting memories.
