This project was a restoration effort. The piece was suffering from age – the lead and “goo” (the technical term for the stuff which holds the glass firmly in the lead caming channels) was failing, leaving the window susceptible to breakage and/or loss of the custom pieces.

The solution was to completely disassemble the piece, carefully noting where each piece came from (think, jigsaw puzzle). Once disassembled, each glass piece was cleaned, removing all the old/dried “goo” from every piece.

Once cleaned, then the entire piece was reassembled, new caming installed and soldered, and finished with a fresh batch of “goo”.
