The clients had an arched transom window in their sunroom, beaming in sunlight in the afternoons. They’d often thought it’d be the perfect spot for a stained glass window – letting the light shine in with brilliance and reminding them of their experiences here on the Cape.

They’d envisioned some sort of “Cape Cod theme” which for me, recognizing that we can visit the same place and experience it differently, meant our design process needed to include discussions of what a “Cape Cod theme” means to them. Dimensions were somewhat variable and budget was discussed.

To help facilitate some of these early discussions, I assembled a few “focus pieces” – which might be incorporated into the larger piece.

We settled on a montage to included the Nauset lighthouse and the Provincetown tower, as well as plenty of water and beach-iness and some of those focus pieces – the sailboats, some plovers, and Day Cottages in Truro.

Final design with focus pieces

And the final piece, measuring 45″ wide, and 17″ at its tallest point, and installed in the transom window.
